Under general direction, have duties of instructing, directing, and checking the work of other project engineers. Responsible for developing strategies for technical IT infrastructures and the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. Leads a group of engineers, analysts, and/or technicians assigned for the duration of a project or may function as ongoing lead within a group of engineers associated with one or more technical areas within the telecom function (such as, but not limited to, network design, engineering, implementation, or operations/user support). Does not have formal supervisory responsibilities, although may provide input.

Description: Our Client is seeking a network architect and automation engineer support, who will be responsible for serving as a network subject matter expert (SME); designing, managing and executing Network Innovation projects, initiatives and proofs of concept (POCs), and supportive or pursuant to such initiatives department wide; and engage, lead and/or support a team of IT professionals in completing projects on set deadlines to uphold business initiatives, and support and improve business operations.

Position activities, tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Serves as a network subject matter expert (SME), responsible for design, management and execution of Network Innovation projects, initiatives and proofs of concept, and related tasks
  • Identifies innovative network technologies, on a three-to-seven-year projection window, and assessing identified technologies in relation to current infrastructure
  • Provides innovation expertise via research to evaluate emerging technologies for new offerings, technology service designs, and concept assessment/evaluation
  • Designs physical and virtual networks; cloud environments and services; and network security measures, across a variety of enterprise-scale systems, and sufficiently troubleshoot complex problems and identify root causes and pursuant corrective actions
  • Provides technical direction and guidance to others regarding the adoption and implementation of Network as a Service (NaaS) technologies and architectures
  • Ensures project goals align with organizational strategies and objectives
  • Designs network technology lifecycles of identified network technologies, including operating guides, configuration baselines, and implementation standards and recommendations for commercial off the shelf (COTS) and opensource network technologies
  • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot automation (e.g., Ansible WorX (AWX), Terraform, etc.) of provisioning, patching, network lifecycle, and voice technologies, utilizing DevSecOps strategies
  • Design ability for optimized network performance measurements; resiliency and security metrics utilizing standards; policies and processes; and industry best practices for all technology offerings
  • Knowledge and ability to assess and redesign existing on-premise network technologies (e.g., LAN, WAN, Wireless, Remote Access Services, Software-defined networks) with goal of implementing new technologies into current infrastructure
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and approaches (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Squad), and ability to identify and meet critical project dates/milestones
  • Provide network project oversight and guidance to lower-level personnel and other network teams to implement new technologies and processes
  • Knowledge of government-specific network policy and compliance (e.g, Binding Operational Directives (BODs), etc.)
  • Provide purchasing recommendations based on specified goals and initiatives
  • Strong communication abilities, including utilization of multiple platforms; ability to develop and present information while factoring audience, expertise level and goal meeting; and ability to write and proof technical and non-technical documentation
  • Work closely with business partners, stakeholders, and technical teams to identify risks or impediments, and assist to develop and implement appropriate mitigating controls and corrective actions
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow Enterprise platform and various modules to carryout work responsibilities requiring usage of the platform (e.g., Incident (INC) creation, tracking and assignment; Change Request (CR) creation, tracking, assignment, etc., in compliance with ITCM standards).
Additional Requirements:
  • A four-year degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.  An equivalent combination of education or experience in computer or telecommunications architectures, systems analysis, and management of information technology may be substituted. 
  • Ten (10) years of relevant and progressive experience in a distributed computing environment is preferred.  This individual must have demonstrated skills in tools and techniques appropriate to the above job duties.
  • A working knowledge of current computer and communications technologies and disciplines, including PC operating systems and hardware platforms, local area networks, wide area networks, messaging, and client-server applications is required.
  • Experienced in managing/tracking projects and keeping projects plans
  • Communications skills adequate to convey complex information and technical information effectively verbally in writing, using an array of platforms
  • Strong Microsoft Office, Project and Vizio skills
  • Ability to write, read and evaluate technical documentation and reports (e.g., After Action reports (AARs); project plans; proof of concept whitepapers; standard operating procedures (SOPs); technical evaluations and designs; etc.).
  • Strong ability to compose creative and professional executive leadership team (ELT) and C-level presentations and communications via PowerPoint
  • Maintain team SharePoint site and update with pertinent and timely information regarding projects, task, team activities, etc.
  • Attend wide-ranging meetings, on behalf of department management, executive staff, and C-level officers, for note taking, project/task tracking and support or provide ELT updates.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with highly technical staff, to understand and participate in project overviews, components, tasks, etc.
  • Report and assist with documenting SOPs, technical evaluations, and designs.

Additional Provisions:
  • Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
  • All candidates must be a US Citizen, or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
  • Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  • Cannot have more than 6 months’ travel outside the United States within the last five years.
  • Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
  • All overtime must be pre-approved in writing by the client manager or his/her designated representative.
